Where Anna thought they were getting smarter but Robert pushed back on it. It was left vague and you had to do that thinking on your own it was the darkseekers. Some directors value the mystery of "just how intelligent are they?" I like both endings, for clarity. I value the noble sacrifice in the theatrical version, however I also like him learning a lesson in the alternate ending. action52 posted... It shows some intelligence, but only a cunning, predatory kind of intelligence, like a xenomorph or some other monster. By itself it doesn't suggest that they might have a complex society like we do, or be capable of things like love and altruism. It was a trap using a multiple variables to set it up. It wasn't like they just dug a big hole they hoped he eventually fell into while distracted. They used a mannequin as a decoy which led to a rope around his feed that had him dangling like how hunters do to animals out in the wild. That takes more sophistication than "hur hur hur I'm a predoator hur hur". That takes actual understanding of cause and effect and point A leading to point B for end results, along with the manual setup to make it happen. Is it the same level of intelligence as what someone posted in the books? Obviously not, however it's more intelligence than Jurassic Park's "clever girl", for an example. It was an actual trap set up that humans use for animals in the wild. --- My metal band, Ivory King, has 2 songs out now - allmylinks.com/ivorykingtx (all of our links there so you can choose which one you'd prefer to use) ...
