I *think* I understand what they were going for, a simpler times with modern security approach. That being said, it seems like a garbage idea even so. Anyone trying to intentionally call back to some fantasy golden age is misguided at best. Having people play as furniture is even up my alley on the BDSM end of things; but not like this. This is just creepy and unnerving. Someone should be getting fired at minimum. --- No matter our origin, we are all one family, we all share one planet, and we all need to feel loved and accepted.
