Out of curiosity I went to YouTube and listened to a song and quickly decided in about 30 seconds its not for me. But there is a lot of people like that for me. Lewis Capaldi was another one like that for me. Hilarious on the show and I could listen to him talk stories all day. Hes a borderline comedian but I dont like his music at all.

I think one of the things that makes Robbie so fucking huge over here is that he carries that funny persona into not only his lyrics ("My breath smells like a thousand ***s [in the cigarette context] and when I'm drunk I dance like me dad - I've started to dress a bit like him. And every morning when I wake up I look like KISS but without the makeup" is one hell of an opening line, haha), but also in every pivot he makes in his career.

Pretty much everything he has done can be summed up as "fuck it, why not?" At the peak of your popularity with a ton of stadium ballad bangers under your belt and in the middle of what is at that point [since beaten only by Eras, I believe] literally the biggest and most successful world tour of all time (including the very first concert to ever be broadcast live in HD)? Use it as a platform to launch a rap record because fuck it. Got a deal to do a televised show from the Royal Albert Hall with accompanying album where you perform Swing classics alongside legends like Nicole Kidman, Jon Lovitz and the ghost of Frank Sinatra? Get your former flatmate and decidedly not musical pal Jonny to do a song with you on stage, because fuck it. Fancy releasing a Christmas song? Why not make it a duet with actual Tyson Fury singing about shagging someone at the office Christmas party because fuck it.

I mean it when I say he is quite possibly the single most British pop star of all time, haha.
