It was obviously intentional but throughout the movie there's a feeling of tension especially when the camera follows sharon tate around, and same when brad pitt goes to the cultists.

It's interesting, the movie is almost 3 hours of a snapshot into 1969 Hollywood, and we follow this guy Rick's career. And Leo absolutely brings it with a hilarious and awesome performance. His very first breakdown scene cracked me up, and the scene with the mirror left me in stitches. It's such a sharp contrast and juxtaposition with the manson family undertones.
