I shamelessly did the trick of entering first person mode with the bow while staring at the picket wall so Lu Bu's character model would be unloaded from the game. After taking a short coffee break the game would resume with only a small loss of morale for your side.

That's practically the only way to do it. Even running around after hitting him once is impossible, and that's still vastly more likely than actually beating him legit.

It was just so crazy. I could crush him pretty bad out in the field, but the second I was in the duel his boosts kicked in and the best I ever got him to was about half health (or so).
