Thanks guys. Today was a sad day. I went and hung out with some family. I had my dads chemotherapy appointment for tomorrow on my calendar and realized I wouldnt ever be taking him to any appointments ever again. Just little shit like that creeping up on me again and again. Im just taking it as it comes. I am just watching Star Trek like a nerd lol.
Do what you need to, to process it my friend. Losing a parent is tough. You won't like reading this - I'll spoiler tag it for now, please read it when you feel okay to do so as it might bring a few tears - you were obviously very close to your dad. As time passes, you'll realise how close you are to your son too. And how many idiosyncrasies you share with your dad.

The main thing is, you're a dad too now mate. And your son looks at you with those big eyes the same way you did a few decades ago. The best way to honour your dad is to make sure the next generation doesn't forget him. All said and done, you love your dad, and your son needs to know about him too. The man who brought you up, to be better than himself (as most dads try and do), and the man who you get glassy-eyed about when your son asks an innocent question about grandad's car or sports etc.

Ok I spoilered a lot of that but it's all in good faith. If you need someone to speak to, i.e. to get something off your chest, then feel free to PM me.

Nonetheless, don't bottle things up. If you're feeling upset, get some privacy and have a good cry. An ugly cry. A loud cry. Fuck it - whatever works for you. Let your emotions out. You did it when you were a baby because you had hiccups, why not do the same thing 20-30 years later when you have something way more important to be emotional about?

No, I'm not that one.
