That might honestly be the best option, since it keeps the "oh man there's a Blue Mage class" as a mid-game revelation instead of something that's hinted early, keeps the theme of "you have to actually steal the ability from them directly" going, but it also means you don't have to sit through two loading screens to go one-shot that level 3 bunny.
