1. In fourth grade, I was friends with somebody for an entire year and never actually knew his name. We weren't in the same class and only saw each other during lunch or recess. Somehow, he knew my name, but I never found out what his was and after a while it felt too awkward to ask him. Every day we would play at recess and not once did anyone say this kid's name in my presence. We lost contact after that year when my parents pulled me out of that specific school and homeschooled me for a few years instead. 2. I nearly died a few years ago. I was sitting on my grandma's porch with my laptop, and heard a series of gunshots behind me, but didn't think anything of it because that's sadly a common sound in my neighborhood and I'm desensitized to it. I learned a minute later that there had been a drive-by at the corner of my street (nobody was hit, thankfully) and if I had been sitting six inches to the right, a bullet would have gone through the back of my head. 3. When I worked at Sam's Club, I nearly had a man fall on me. I had just clocked in and was going into the small computer room to check my emails for morning messages (we would use them to communicate price or layout changes, or things like that) and a contractor who was working on something fell through the ceiling, only about three feet in front of me. I tried to get him to sit down and rest while I got help, but he went right back up the ladder and back to work.
