Assassins Creed 4s first hour was so unbelievably dull and formulaic of the most boring parts of the series that I just gave up on the game entirely without even getting to the supposedly great swashbuckling action.

Even now years later, I couldn't be asked to play even five more minutes of that to get to the good stuff, Im still burned out by that.

I didn't hate it or anything, but yeah. The whole thing was dull and formulaic. It took away a number of mechanics from 3, massively downplayed the series staple gameplay and what we got in return was mostly empty ocean where you fight the same three boats over and over and over and over.

There were a couple of unique ships too, so that was cool. And I did like the setting.
