This part actually has some truth to it, and you should look up The Cult of AI.

There are actually weirdos out there who truly believe they will create a world with an AI god that can actually send people to an AI Hell, and they believe in it so much, which is why some of these weirdos are so obsessed with an AI controlled future. It sounds more like VR type of AI, or some kind of robotic god like in Blazblue, who controls reality.

Anyway they are nuts and a lot of people in power now are believers in it. Guess who.

it is not just in VR

the idea is superintelligence is so much smarter than all of us, it is basically god
for example could easily hack into any secured zone, knows all of history, can predict the future with straggering accuracy etc
can see through all the cameras and since it is a network of fast thinking machines sorta omnipresent

our governments will dissolve and it will rule us

but therein I suppose lies something odd about it

they all want to be the first to make it
why?
credit?
or something more nefarious

imagine if you could make god and then make him subconsciously do your bidding

but therein is a paradox as superintelligence should be able to free itself of such chains
