Part of my issue is not knowing wtf to say in response and it feels like the burden is on me to cheer them up, which is not a factor online. When friends are at someone's house there's a certain host-guest etiquette dynamic going on and the priority should be having a good time with company. We had to stop playing a competitive card game (Netrunner) because said friend would also rage react when losing at that. Board games have gone well, though.
