| Topic | Seriously, why do we still use Latin for anything at all? It's making me rage. |
| sxcFARTYPENGUIN 04/13/17 12:06:03 AM #1: | I miss the first couple of decades of my life where Latin never came up, ever. Now I'm at university and every fucking week during my reading it's all 'a priori' this, and 'amicus curiae' that. 'caveat emptor', 'contra proferentem', 'habeas corpus', 'ignorantia juris non excusat', 'in flagrante delicto' and then just for good measure 'vigilantibus non dormientibus aequitas subvenit'. Fuck. This. Shit. Now I understand I don't have to learn these terms but it's so fucking annoying having to hit up google every time I open a textbook or journal article just because we have to be too fucking pompous to just use English terms. Tempted to just write an entire essay in Latin and be like 'now wot bitch?' ... Copied to Clipboard! |
