That era, and even way previous ones had very beautiful women, since you have to keep in mind that was when it was the era before junk food, so most women were always out and about doing things and being active. Solomon literally had 1,000 wives and concubines. Now obviously he wouldn't be interested in that many if they all looked like they'd just been through the wringer.
