People naturally assume that a human being programmed these filters, and if the "Hot" filter is consistently lightening dark skin then obviously they would see it as something intentional. Whether or not those intentions are racist is something else entirely. Looking at the tweets in that article it didn't seem as though any of those people were being super serious tbqh --- ...
