Ah because both people are competing against each other and not trying to achieve the same goal together. If that's the case you could almost say the same about Bubble Bobble since you can screw with the other guy and you're trying to get a higher score than Bob. But... but... true ending... Oh I know about the pause / bring Bob back to stand there like a dummy while you kill the giant wizard thing haha.
