If they had changed it to be something like, "the first person to leave the house/rides away wins," I doubt it would have come across as dumb. I mean, we knew it was meant to be schlocky horror BS. But they took it somewhat seriously. They just didn't explore as much as they could have. The time they spent back in the ring could have been used fighting in a basement level or using more weapons or environmental hazards. One thing WWE lacks these days (among many other problems) is creativity in weapon types.
