It is a combination of upbringing, location and environment, which could explain why a lot of black people have "black" voices. It explains why people who are raised in the ghetto sound ghetto. "Sounding white" is sounding like you don't spend all day every day with hood rats and choose to speak properly. To associate race with the speak of ignorance is to say that race is ignorant. I don't know about you but I assume that somebody who sounds like they spend all their time in the ghetto isn't particularly learned.
