But right-wing trolls hijacked it and flooded social media with different memes..particularly for Donald Trump's campaign as it became a tongue-in cheek symbol for the alt-right fringe movement and used it for white nationalism, neo-nazism and anti-immigration while promoting Donald Trump as their lord and saviour. The frog then took different forms to Adolf Hitler and a member of the KKK The Anti-Defamation League branded Pepe as a hate symbol and asked Furi to reclaim his character with the #SavePepe hashtag.. He asked people to flood the net with "peaceful or nice" versions of Pepe as he said he had to take some responsbility to reclaim him as he feels Pepe is like his kid..but it failed and it just made Pepe even more into an alt-right image.
