God of war ninja gaiden black resident evil 4 shadow of the colosssus devil may cry 3 metal gear solid 3 (Europe for me but still) and the 360 came out as well. It's all about preference. It seems if a year didn't have a big rpg or something it's not going to do well. But if this site was action game orientated 2005 would be up there. We got dmc3 god of war and NGB in the same year.
