You know, actually... with both the Flash and Arrow finales, it makes sense for... Time skip! That way we get Wally being able to artificially put in time to be the one and only Flash before they start to try rescuing Barry. And then all of the flashbacks for Arrow can be replaced by what happened in the time between the explosion and to the present. And we have stories to tell for everyone in that time for every character to play catch up. I mean, they still want to smash Olicity together, and it seems like they barely scraped by to have a good season this year (since the writing is still super shitty with tons of problems and a lack of foresight). But I mean... I guess if they have stories set up for everyone to play flashback catch up, it forces them to have a plan instead of playing it by the seat of their pants. ---
