I'm still a bit miffed that the awesome Batman from the Animated Series who was more than a moody crusader - an actual detective with heart who can show compassion to his enemies at the moment they need it while still knowing to use force to stop them if he has to - is the Batman that isn't really ever represented on the big screen, ever. Instead, we have a tamer version of that 3edgy5me murderous misanthrope. DCAU Batman gets pretty dark. He has his moments and definitely is a bit more nuanced, but the logical progression of that Bruce's character was a sad old man who had driven everyone he cared about away from him.
