Mead ran towards the nearest shaman and skewered him with his spear. The elderly old man made no effort to defend himself or prevent his death. Mead kicked him off his spear as he ran towards the next one around the hexagonal room. He sliced this one horizontally across his stomach causing him to fall into the vortex. Mead looked back and saw the other elder that he had killed being pulled into the pit by a tendril that had formed from the swirling mass. He gritted his teeth and wasted no more time he continued onward around to the next shaman and sliced open his neck as the last of his chanting was reduced to strained gurgling. As he ran towards the next shaman a tendril flew out of the pit and wrapped itself around his leg. Larry fell to the ground as the immense strength of this creature attempted to pull him in. He slashed the tendril with his spear and it let out an unworldly hiss that made every cell in his body quake as it let go. It seemed that the whatever this creature was it could be hurt. He got to his feet and continued on stabbing the next shaman in the side. As that shaman threw himself into the pit with his last effort in life several more tendrils shot out of the blood coming straight for Mead. He managed to deflect one with his spear but another wrapped around his arm as another stabbed into his abdomen. He could feel the tendril tearing through his insides as it wriggled around the entry wound. The pain was excruciating but he couldn’t stop now. He forced his arm free and cut off the tendril that had stabbed into him. He stumbled back to the wall still feeling it moving around inside of his guts. He grabbed a hold of its severed end before it escaped inside of his body and ripped it out of himself. Blood rained from his giant wound as the tendril slithered back into its pit. He could barely see straight from the amount of pain he was in, but he couldn’t give up. The chanting was as loud as ever even though there was only one shaman remaining. Mead moved over to him as fast as he could and to his surprise this shaman actually attempted to fight back. As Mead got close the shaman turned toward him and launched a flame out of his hands. He looked at Mead with beady little eyes and a smile as the flame burned his face. Luckily Mead was far enough away that the fire didn’t cause him too much harm. He swiftly retaliated by swinging the blunt end of his spear at the shamans legs knocking him to the ground. The shaman held up his hands like he was about to cast another fireball but Mead plunged the spear into his chest.

The chanting had finally ended but not knowing what to do next Mead backed against a wall to try to stay upright and conscious from his injuries. The pit continued to swirl with the sickening mass of blood and guts as the body of the last shaman was pulled inside by the bloody tendrils. Mead clutched his wounded abdomen trying to force the wound closed. He gasped out in pain as blood started to leak from his mouth. The tendrils no longer seemed interested in attacking him, they started to flail into the air in a mad dance of living death as they smashed into the walls of the large chamber. A demonic groan was unleashed once again from the pit and the sound of the spinning blood began to bubble and pop as the mass of it rose from the pit and started to take form. It looked like a giant snake made entirely from the remains of human flesh. The sharp tendrils flailed furiously from all of the surfaces of its body. It didn’t seem to even notice Mead’s presence. It was climbing the walls of the chamber heading to the top of the pyramid. Whatever this creature was it had been released and it was ready to lay waste to the world with its all consuming pestilence. Mead watched helplessly as the devilish creature penetrated the pyramid roof and escaped into the outside world, prepared to lay waste to all things living.
