I think with FBI there's a lot of security clearance you have to acquire, which means they will dig extensively into your background and personal life. Becoming a regular police officer first seems like a logical step if you want to join the FBI some day. I did more research after making this topic and I came to the conclusion that it's better to be a cop than to join the FBI. The recruitment process for the FBI is very long and I started thinking about how FBI agents can get called away from home for long periods of time, the fact that you don't have much of a choice about which office you get assigned to and how much dangerous it is than regular police work.
