Topic	Question for pet owners on CE: How would you react if a cop shot your dog?

Saying they need to ask you some routine questions When you open the door your dog perks up and gets over-excited. S/he pelts frantically towards them and leaps up to play. The surprised cop gets concerned for their life and at the spur of the moment instinctually pulls out their gun and shoots the dog. Your dog falls to the floor, whimpers, whines, shakes for a little while then passes away. The cop then says they had no choice the dog tried to attack them. Turns out the enquirey was over a co-worker of yours who disappeared and then was found dead under suspcious circumstances so the cops were on edge. OR cat if applicable. What would you do?
