The movie studios were too afraid of losing sales from movie goers offended that someone of chinese origin was being depicted as a bad guy, so they completely gimped mandarin and made him into a nobody. The china market is responsible for alot of garbage these days (see: the never ending line of shitty bayformers flicks and any other movie thats just mindless cgi action with no substance.
