What got me was that the entire plot of Iron Man 2 was about Tony angsting over the fact that he was about to die from his arc reactor poisoning him. And then in Iron Man 3, he just casually gets heart surgery to remove it. The movie studios were too afraid of losing sales from movie goers offended that someone of chinese origin was being depicted as a bad guy, so they completely gimped mandarin and made him into a nobody. The china market is responsible for alot of garbage these days (see: the never ending line of shitty bayformers flicks and any other movie thats just mindless cgi action with no substance. The real Mandarin was literally a racist caricature with buck teeth, yellow skin, slanted eyes and his fucking name was "The Mandarin". Even if they changed his race, people would just say something along the lines of, "now he is just a caricature of X!". He had to show up at some point, because he is so deeply ingrained in Iron Man lore, but there just wasn't a real way to do it and please everyone. People fell in love with the fake Mandarin because Kingsley's performance was top notch and the character hit all the bad guy cliches, but if they just ran with it, we probably would have had one side complaining about him being a negative stereotype and the other complaining about how trite the characterization was. <cite>Dash_Harber posted [p:882534551] in Yo fuck Ir...
