There are qualities people look for when discussing movies, such as: - Musical score - Character writing (background, how they develop throughout the movie, etc.). - Originality - Plot development The 2016 version of the movie just does not compare in a lot of aspects compared to the original based on standard scoring metrics. I'm not going to say you're wrong for thinking the new movie is more entertaining than the previous one - that's your opinion.
