It plays off of the idea of the son holding his mother in high regard, so the idea of the guy in question "having her" is an insult to their pride. Plus, the idea of someone's mother being "loose" is generally insulting. Gotta admit to this one because the only thing that really got me mad enough to attack a bully at school is when he said he'd be my new daddy, I didn't even think about it, just started choking him and while my mind was just blank, like it was auto pilot.
