the modern gaming-quality Intel i-Series CPUs don't have pins. There are pins on the motherboard for other things like various different busses, but not for the CPU. all AMD processors use pins AFAIK.

I do think Intel still makes cpus with pins, but they're not something you'd put in a gaming PC.

EDIT:

LGA 2011, also called Socket R, is a CPU socket by Intel. Released on 14 November 2011, it replaces Intel's LGA 1366 (Socket B) and LGA 1567 in the performance and high-end desktop and server platforms. The socket has 2011 protruding pins that touch contact points on the underside of the processor.
