Happened a lot to me in elementary actually.

I went to a Texas middle and high school full of dumbasses. And I don't mean they were dumb for any prejudice or whatever, there were just a lot of dumb people. I think there were two other Asian guys in my class of 400.

In hs it was mostly just Mexican people calling me chino. And they rarely mean it as an insult, but there are always outliers.

Eh, people that aren't familiar with Asians can't really tell the differences (usually).

People can usually spot that I'm half Korean nowadays. There's a ton of Asian cliques around my university, so I think it becomes easier for people to tell different countries apart after a while. Unfortunately I'm not a part of any of those - never really felt comfortable as my mom never taught me the language.

I get the feeling of feeling less "American" despite the fact that I really only know English, spent most of my childhood in the south, and have trouble relating to people with strong roots in their Asian heritage. But like I said, it doesn't bother me so much anymore.
