With music, circumstances change. Trends fade in and out, the band that made you famous disbands, the hit music you were making in 2005 isn't that cool anymore, etc. etc.

Same with many movie stars, though certainly not all. You had your few big hits and were extremely popular for 10 years, now someone else has come along and they're having their big hits. You're still famous, probably still making movies, but the honeymoon phase is over with.

As far as rich people go, they mostly continue to get richer and richer. Most rich people aren't in the limelight, though.
