I wouldn't be surprised if the book stole from the original soap. Betty La Fea was more about a really ugly lady trying to gnaw into her handsome crush's pants. And it ended with a parade. It's almost nothing like Devil Wears Prada. Except for MAYBE because it took place in a fashion company. But she was an economist.
