That's one of my biggest criticisms of the new Pokemon games. In 20 years, will the new games remember to include Alolan forms for all those Pokemon that had it? Will mega-evolutions still be a thing? And what about those special attacks introduced in S/M (that I honestly never even used once)? It's one thing to make a batch of new Pokemon, it's another thing to remember to include all the specialized details they included in the past.
