I often wonder about that. That's one of my biggest criticisms of the new Pokemon games.

In 20 years, will the new games remember to include Alolan forms for all those Pokemon that had it? Will mega-evolutions still be a thing? And what about those special attacks introduced in S/M (that I honestly never even used once)?

It's one thing to make a batch of new Pokemon, it's another thing to remember to include all the specialized details they included in the past. It's like they're purposely making it extremely hard for themselves to continue making games.

I figure eventually they'll just put all the alternate forms as swarms or something.
"Ah! There's a sudden outbreak of Alolan Pokemon on route 70. I wonder what caused it."
Then any Pokemon in that route that can have an Alolan form will be be that way when encountered. Same with any future region exclusive forms or whatever. Still seems dumb to introduce region exclusive forms instead of simply generalized region(like finding an ice vulpix on top if a snowy mountain)

there's no statement that says it's for him, and only him.

in fact, it's safe to say if they're adding a third form called Dusk, in a game all about what time of day it is, it's going to be for more than just one pokemon.

I assume Megas will continue to be a thing. I'm not as sure about support for Alolan forms although a few of those, like Muk, are pretty popular.

In general, I was against Megas for a lot of reasons including their gimmick nature. However, it's a neat way to kinda make certain Pokemon more relevant.
