Sometimes it's good to put things in words so you can read them back to yourself. It sounds like you are trying to work it out so that's a good thing. I can only tell you how it works for me and maybe you could take some of that for yourself. I look at every person as someone with a story and I love stories. You can learn so much from a person if you just take the time to listen. So treat everyone as someone who can teach you something. Listen and be kind. I love giving little gifts to people when I can, not so much because I want to make them happy but because it makes me feel good. So go about this friend thing as you just being a kind person. Maybe try and love yourself a little bit too and quit being so hard on you. Baby steps.
