I can see why going solo would be a bit awkward. Back in the day (high school/early twenties) everybody pretty much knew everyone else so showing up to a party on your own wasn't an issue.

Do you think anybody you know will be there? Even if not, and depending on your mood, you should consider going.

So maybe show up for an hour and see if you get a good vibe or find someone to pair up with. If you're not feeling it, say thanks to the host and head home.

Yeah, looks like 1 friend at least will be going with me so won't be too bad. I woulda gone anyway (Got together a few party games to bring (Mars Attacks and Dirty Minds), along with snacks etc, and i'm a pretty social/friendly person so I'm sure it woulda worked out.

I went to an Anime convention once by myself (well, I didn't actually go the the convention, I went to watch Ballet with my wife across the street and it was so boring I left and hit the convention instead), and yeah, it's really not fun solo.

Don't want the same experience at this party.

But I'll have a friend and I do casually know a few other people who will be there (but they are really young (under 21) and will probably be hanging out with other people around their age.

When I was in my 20's it was pretty easy to just go and hang with new people but once you hit 50 or so, even though I have plenty of friends in their mid to late 20's, it's not as easy just randomly getting to know them at parties etc.

So glad I'll have someone along with me (especially since he's like 29 or something so makes a good age bridge between me and younger people lol).
