There are a lot of conservative Christian groups in a lot of Western countries that think it should be criminalized. What about women voting? What about sharia law? There are many Muslims that allow women to vote. Turkey enacted women's suffrage only a decade after the USA. And guess what, it didn't take mass demonstrations for them to allow it.
