Really strange to dismiss the film which is not only ending the mainstream release drought but also one of the most exceptional box office stories of the year. It now looks like it might challenge Deadpool. The previous horror record holder didn't do half that! Incidentally I think the fact that Hannibal was the previous record holder also shows how horror films that have appeal outside the genre can perform much better. Apparently around 45% of It's presales were to non-horror fans too. That being the count that most heavily skews to genre fans. Regarding the horror elements thing - how stringent are you?
