Comparing this movie to Hannibal is a little bit incorrect. The genre itself doesn't matter. If you want me to give an actual opinion on this success, I would compare it to Gone with the Wind or Ben-Hur. What matters here is the fact that we're dealing with an adaptation of what is considered a popular modern classic.
