look back at the 90s. both parties were relatively reasonable and willing to listen to the other side. compromise was not the 'dirty word' it is today, it feels like these days if you compromise you're being weak and giving in, instead of being open minded and considering the feelings of your opponent.

then Obama happened and the racists came out in full force and promised to block _everything_ he did. our country hasn't been the same since.

no. look at the 90s. Democrat PotUS, Republican Congress and they still got a lot done. they even balanced the budget _with a surplus_. then W came along and completely butt-fucked all of that with his unnecessary war AND tax cuts for the rich.
