That hogue grip is loads better than the stock grip, IMO. I can almost consciously avoid it, but it just bites the webbing just the slightest bit. Though honestly, I'd still feel comfortable carrying it despite the slide bite. It's a great gun and as I'm sure you know, most defensive scenarios wouldn't last long enough to give slide bite. HOWEVER...it looks like there are finally some beaver tail back straps on the market.
