You're not telling me anything I don't already know and I guess you're not understanding my question.

Colloquially, feline has been used to mean cat or catlike. In modern cladistic taxonomy, felinae is a subfamily of felidae . Panthera is the other subfamily of felidae which tigers are classified under. By this categorization, tigers are felids but NOT feline and I'm wondering if scientists/biologists make this distinction .

Would calling a tiger a feline be technically, scientifically incorrect?
