You used to be able to let the commercials play without ever having to scramble for the remote. Now the commercials are explosively loud and will practically blow your eardrums (or your speakers) out if you dont mute them in time.

I also feel like narrators on almost every show are way too loud, same with background music. The voices of the actors should be the most prominently heard thing and if you cant hear them over the music or sound effects, then that means they didnt mix the sound right (there was a werewolf movie with Benecio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins that is virtually unwatchable because of poor sound mixing).
