TopicDo you send thank you cards?

I personally find the practice a bit antiquated, but my stepmother's family still does it. I've convinced my dad and stepmother to accept a verbal thanks, but whenever I receive something from my stepmother's side of the family, Dad and stepmother ask that I send a thank you card. I normally don't see them in person ever so I get it, but I still see it as an inconvenience. I personally never expect a thank you card when I give or mail a gift. I'm curious if I'm alone in my dislike of thank you cards.

To take it a step further, do you call, text, or email somebody thanks if they send you a gift? Again, I normally don't expect it since when I generally give a gift I'm doing it as a kind gesture with no strings attached. But maybe I'm just lazy. I'm grateful, but I just hate having to write a thank you.
