While your dad seems a bit naively optimistic, you're too negative TC. The world is generally shitty because of most people doing dumb, selfish, hateful and evil shit, but you still have to find and try to derive some sort of happiness from it, for your sake and the family that loved you. Just try to do your best to not be a detriment to others, and do what makes you happy and keeps you independent until it's your time. It's all most of us can do to cope with the situation we're in.
