Topic	Is it time to do away with 2 week notices?

I'm in the legal field and they usually don't fire you on the spot since they need people to cover cases, court days, etc. Last time I left a job, I gave them a month notice, but that mostly for the sake of my clients. At my last company, they started letting people go on the spot if they gave notice they were going to a competitor. People who had been there 10+ years too. Cutting off their healthcare and such.
