They've literally built to it since the very first scene of the series.

Exactly

And the build up was Gene being hapless, Jeff being in total control manipulating him, Gene having no idea who Jeff was or what he wanted. It was totally ambigious

And then as I said earlier:

The episode wasn't "bad" per se but it felt like it was written by different writers.

Suddenly Jimmy knows who the cab driver is, where he lives, his motivations, his mom's routine and feels confident f***ing him around.

I mean they skip all that but then spent literally 5 minutes showing him mapping out how many feet between each clothing rack. Because we can't assume he did that but we can assume he transformed into Mike and did background checks/stake outs of Cabby for 2 weeks.

And the "Dump a crate on their doorstep and hope they leave it overnight and then never make the connection of the massive suspicious crate that arrived around the time their inventory was massively wrong" seems like a really bad scheme for no reason.

And then the result of the episode is we're back at square 1 as if Cab guy never turned up.

Just felt like filler with tons of plot convience. Like they extended a Gene opening season scene to an entire episode.

I just wasn't feeling it. Made me feel like the show just needs to end, the steam has gone.

Now we're just back to where we were as if Jeff never turned up.

Even if his mom comes into play later, this episode in of itself was just filler. Just felt like what was meant to be Season 6's opening Gene scene extended awkwardly to fill a whole episode.
