I know people who literally came to the US as children from Russia after their parents were given living space perks by the government for having kids and instead said parents were like "we need to get the fuck outta here because we don't want our kids to have compulsory military service under the Soviet regime" and that's the entire reason why they immigrated.

I'm not surprised. It has been obvious that putin has been trying to race the clock back decades just like other asshole dictator-types like trump but still, it's rough because the population of Russia is being dragged down by that asshole as much as US population is being dragged down due to donald.
