For the first time since the show came back to TV in 2015, we will have a season of BattleBots without Tombstone. Ray Billings has a hand injury and has needed multiple surgeries for it, and he's decided not to "push it" by competing and will instead focus on his physical therapy. Perfect Phoenix, the bot driven by that super young prodigy that he's also been helping with in the pits, will also be skipping season 7.

On the bright side, this does give Ray more time to think about revisions to Tombstone's design for a potential season 8. Based on what we've seen out of the bot in the past couple of years, it does feel like the meta has caught up to them and it's time for a change.
