anise was literally forced to do what she did dont understand why people act like she did her bad things out of her own free will.
It's more the fact that she gets instantly forgiven after everyone spent the first third of the game shitting on Luke for damn near everything he did or said (when he also had legitimate reasons for being the way he was) and he had to earn everyone's trust back.
Like, Akzeriuth was 100% Van's doing. Luke had absolutely zero reason not to trust him, since the only people trying to make a case against doing so were... a girl who he still barely even knew at the time, and some guy who mysteriously looks just like him and has tried to murder him at least once by that point. To Luke, Van was something of a hero, someone who was always there for him, the only real friend he had besides Guy.
And even then, by the end, Van literally has Luke hypnotized/under his power, so he couldn't stop it even if he tried. Then, having been betrayed by one of the only friends he thought he'd had, Luke then has to get shit on by the entire party essentially acting like he willingly sank an entire city of innocent people.
